There is no time limit, just if you're drag and dropping clips directly into the timeline right at the end it's fiddly. So the best way is to place the playhead at the end and drag the clip into the sequence viewer. It will then drop into the timeline as an insert.
Is it safe to download Lightworks?
The Dev Team have confirmed that Lightworks does use NSIS (Nullsoft Scriptable Install System), which has been seen to be subject to AV false-positives. Personally I would recommend putting installer packages through www.virustotal.com/ prior to install, as no single AV is perfect.
