Is Arch faster than Ubuntu?

tl;dr: Because its the software stack that matters, and both distros compile their software more-or-less the same, Arch and Ubuntu performed the same in CPU and graphics intensive tests. (Arch technically did better by a hair, but not outside the scope of random fluctuations.)

Is Arch faster than Debian?

Debian is available for many architectures, including alpha, arm, hppa, i386, x86_64, ia64, m68k, mips, mipsel, powerpc, s390, and sparc, whereas Arch is x86_64 only.

Which is harder to install Arch or Gentoo?

Arch is only binary, Gentoo is primarily source based but binary installation is possible and quite easy in fact. I would do binary for things like libreoffice, webkitgtk, and other packages that take long time to compile. Speed wise, Gentoo hands down.

What is the point of Gentoo?

Flexibility. Gentoo allows users to configure which software features they wish to install, instead of the "one size fits all" approach of many binary-based distributions. Gentoo can run in a wide range of environments, from embedded systems and virtual containers (LXC, OpenVZ, etc.) through to large cluster machines.

Is Gentoo hard to use?

As a distro that actually has steps that you have to follow to install, Gentoo is many times more difficult. But installing Gentoo, as an activity, it really isn't difficult. Everything is straightforward and logical, and the docs outline nearly all of it. If you're prepared to read documentation, you'll be fine.
